Details:

The Real Life Food Premium Pack incorperates the same core ingredients as the Real Life Food Pack and adds extra Wild Alaskan Sockeye Salmon oil for increased joint, brain and skin health, as well as our unique form of Boswelia called 5-LOXIN. 5-LOXIN is a new, patent-pending joint health ingredient that is steeped in the historic roots of boswellia serrata extracts. The boswellia plant has been used for thousands of years in traditional Ayurvedic medicine in India, and recent studies have shown its benefits in promoting joint comfort, knee mobility and walking distance.

Technically speaking the typical American diet is loaded with foods that contain arachidonic acid (like egg yolk, red meat, poultry, and dairy products) or stimulate the production of excess arachidonic acid in the body (foods rich in high-glycemic carbohydrates, saturated fats, and omega-6 fatty acids).

Scientific studies show that, along with normal aging, excess arachidonic acid ignites a biochemical cascade that increases levels of the 5-lipoxygenase (5-LOX) enzyme, which can induce undesirable effects in cells throughout the body. This cascade culminates in the excess accumulation of leukotriene B4, a proinflammatory compound that attacks the joints, the arterial wall, and other tissues.

The Real Life Food Premium Pack also contains Alpha Lipoic Acid and and Acetyl l Carnitine

By Combining Aceytl l Carnitine with Alpha Lipoic acid The Real Life Food Premium Pack effectively creates an anti-oxidant cocktail that  has been shown in laboratory experiments to help maintain mitochondrial function as cells age. Research has shown that an important factor in aging is the decay of the mitochondria - the organelles within the cell that convert amino acids, fatty acids and sugars into energy. Research performed by University of Berkeley scientists and others has demonstrated that as we age, the efficiency of the mitochondria diminishes, as does their quantity per cell. The effect is a body operating at one-half to one-fourth the energy it had at youth. The brain is perhaps the most important organ affected by aging, since it consumes more energy than any other organ of the body. An energy deficit in the brain and central nervous system affects the activities of all organs throughout the body as well as mental acuity and mood.

The Real Life Food Premium Pack plays a critical role in the conversion of food into energy, and secondly, it affords protection to the cell from oxidants, including the highly reactive substances known as free radicals. Free radicals are chemical by-products, produced during the burning of food to form energy. They are extremely toxic to the cell as they oxidize and distort its vital components. Alpha Lipoic Acid is both water and lipid soluble, and can therefore penetrate and protect lipid containing cell membranes as well as water soluble cell components. Another important characteristic of this multiple function compound is its capacity to be regenerated to an active form, within the cell, after reacting with and neutralizing an oxidant. It can literally protect all of the cell components from oxidants. In addition to being an antioxidant, it helps maintain a high membrane potential by acting on other cellular antioxidants, including vitamins C and E, as well as glutathione, to keep them fully charged for maximum cellular protection from oxidants.

Last but not least we have included a true food based Vitamin C formula in the Real Life Food Premium Pack. Vitamin C is the vitamin that revolutionized the supplement industry and for good reason. Vitamin C is one of the safest and most effective nutrients, experts say. It may not be the cure for the common cold (though it's thought to help prevent more serious complications). But the benefits of vitamin C may include protection against immune system deficiencies, cardiovascular disease, prenatal health problems, eye disease, and even skin wrinkling.

A recent study published in Seminars in Preventive and Alternative Medicine that looked at over 100 studies over 10 years revealed a growing list of benefits of Vitamin C.

"Vitamin C has received a great deal of attention, and with good reason. Higher blood levels of Vitamin C may be the ideal nutrition marker for overall health," says study researcher Mark Moyad, MD, MPH, of the University of Michigan. "The more we study vitamin C, the better our understanding of how diverse it is in protecting our health, from cardiovascular, cancer, stroke, eye health [and] immunity to living longer."

"But," Moyad notes, "the ideal dosage may be higher than the recommended dietary allowance."

How Much Vitamin C Is Enough?

Most of the studies Moyad and his colleagues examined used 500 daily milligrams of Vitamin C to achieve health results. That's much higher than the RDA of 75-90 milligrams a day for adults. So unless you can eat plenty of fruits and vegetables, you may need to take a dietary supplement of vitamin C to gain all the benefits, Moyad says. He suggests taking 500 milligrams a day, in addition to eating five servings of fruits and vegetables.

"It is just not practical for most people to consume the required servings of fruits and vegetables needed on a consistent basis, whereas taking a once-daily supplement is safe, effective, and easy to do," Moyad says. He also notes that only 10% to 20% of adults get the recommended nine servings of fruits and vegetables daily.

Moyad says there is no real downside to taking a 500-milligram supplement, except that some types may irritate the stomach. That's why he recommends taking a non-acidic, buffered form of the vitamin. "The safe upper limit for Vitamin C is 2,000 milligrams a day, and there is a great track record with strong evidence that taking 500 milligrams daily is safe," he says.

However 500 mg of true Vitamin C is hard to find. Most if not all "Vitamin C" on the market is ascorbic acid. Ascorbic acid is NOT Vitamin C! Ascorbic acid is an isolate, a fraction, a distillate of naturally occurring vitamin C. In addition to ascorbic acid, vitamin C must include rutin, bioflavonoids, Factor K, Factor J, Factor P, Tyrosinase, Ascorbinogen, and other components.

For decades, retail consumers have taken isolated ascorbic acid supplements believing they are using a natural product. However, ascorbic acid is generally synthesized from genetically modified and chemically produced corn glucose, a process most consumers would hardly consider to be natural.

At Edible Science we feel strongly, intuitively, that real Vitamin C is part of something living, and as such, can impart life. Your synthetic, fractionated chemical ascorbic acid never grew in the ground, never saw the light of day, never was alive or part of anything alive. It's a chemical, a cornstarch derivative, a sulfuric acid by-product. In your body it's just another drug.

While a cup of orange juice or a half-cup of red pepper would be enough to meet your RDA for Vitamin C, here are all the foods and beverages you'd need to consume to reach 500 milligrams (mg):

Cantaloupe, 1 cup: 59 mg Vitamin C
Orange juice, 1 cup: 97 mg
Broccoli, cooked, 1 cup: 74 mg
Red cabbage, 1/2 cup: 40 mg
Green pepper, 1/2 cup, 60 mg
Red pepper, 1/2 cup, 95 mg
Kiwi, 1 medium: 70 mg
Tomato juice, 1 cup: 45 mg

Edible Science has obtained a form of Vitamin C that is truly a food form and as such it has superior absorbancy over ascorbic acid. Our 400mg of FOODSTATE Vitamin C is a true Vitamin C product.

FOODSTATE NUTRIENTS are supplemental nutrition, delivered in a matrix of Vital Food Factors such as carbohydrates, proteins, phytonutrients and thousands of other components that compose food. These Vital Food Factors create enhanced absorption and utilization through a naturally occurring biochemical delivery system that transports nutrients to cells. This superior delivery system is not found in ordinary vitamin and mineral supplements.

These whole food concentrates are produced by two unique processes: Growth and Nutrient Activation. The result is a nutrient-dense, highly bioavailable complex matrix of proteins, carbohydrates, dietary fiber, enzymes, active bioflavonoids and thousands of bio-active phyto-chemicals. The natural nutrients found in whole foods are in all of our formulations.

The main difference between the FoodState Nutrients and regular food concentrates is in the nutrient density. Extensive tests performed by independent researchers and laboratories have consistently shown FoodState Nutrients have better absorption and retention rates compared to other supplements. Scientific research supports what we have always known - Food is the foundation of health and vitality.

We are proud to have FOODSTATE VItamin C included in the Foods For Life Premium Pack.
