NOT ASCORBIC ACID! TRUE VITAMIN C JUST AS NATURE INTENDED!
THE TRUE STORY ABOUT VITAMIN C
(Kick back, and enjoy a story about the vitamin that revolutionized the supplement industry)
Nobel Prize winner and discoverer of ascorbic acid, Dr. Szent-Gyorgyi in a letter to the editor of the esteemed journal Nature, July 14, 1936, p. 27, wrote that when it comes to anti-scurvy and anti-hemorrhagic effects, there are "other substances of similar importance and activity that accompany ascorbic acid."
More important, when Szent-Gyorgyi tried to cure scurvy and other bleeding conditions, he found that "with pure ascorbic acid, we obtained no response.... yet when red pepper or lemon or lime juice was used, the condition was readily cured.”
Most sources equate vitamin C with ascorbic acid, as though they were the same thing. They're not. Ascorbic acid is an isolate, a fraction, a distillate of naturally occurring vitamin C. In addition to ascorbic acid, vitamin C must include rutin, bioflavonoids, Factor K, Factor J, Factor P, Tyrosinase, Ascorbinogen, and other components.
For decades, retail consumers have taken isolated ascorbic acid supplements believing they are using a natural product. However, ascorbic acid is generally synthesized from genetically modified and chemically produced corn glucose, a process most consumers would hardly consider to be natural.
At Edible Science we feel strongly, intuitively, that Real vitamin C is part of something living, and as such, can impart life. Your synthetic, fractionated chemical ascorbic acid never grew in the ground, never saw the light of day, never was alive or part of anything alive. It's a chemical, a cornstarch derivative, a sulfuric acid by-product. In your body it's just another drug.
We have located two of the richest sources of true 100% organic and kosher vitamin C; organic camu camu extract and wildcrafted organic acerola extract and combined them 50/50 into a powerful formula to protect the body from colds and flus.
We are proud to announce the inclusion of this drinkable vitamin c powder to our growing line of food supplements. This is the first of what we hope to be a comprehensive offering of drinkable powders that powerfully complement our premium supplement line.
Edible Science acerola extract powder is 100% organic and kosher and standardized to 25% all-natural vitamin C, the highest level of 100% naturally ocuring vitamin C available in any organic fruit powder. Our prized berries are grown near the rainforest in Brazil in NOP-certified organic orchards and processed in a proprietary facility located within minutes of the orchards.
For quite some time, the scientific community has known that camu camu berries provide an astonishing amount of naturally occurring vitamin C, 30 to 60 times more than citrus fruit. In fact, camu camu berries are the richest source of vitamin C in the world. However, these prized berries grow only in remote, hard-to-reach areas of the Amazon Rainforest, and this has significantly limited their availability. Our contract manufacturer has overcome this limitation and is now able to offer you an innovative, 100% natural camu camu berry concentrate powder standardized to 20% naturally occurring vitamin C.
Both our acerola and camu camu berries are handpicked at the optimum time, when the color reveals their peak vitamin C content. At the processing facility, the berries are stored at temperatures just above freezing to preserve their vital nutrients. This stringent temperature control is maintained throughout the entire concentrating process. In a proprietary process, our acerola and camu camu berries are gently concentrated in a cold-liquid extraction. The syrup is then filtered and dried in a vacuum at low temperatures to protect the fragile, heat- and oxygen-sensitive vitamin C. Our gentle extraction process allows us to create an unusually potent concentrate without any added ascorbic acid. These are truly natural products!
All of our drinkable powders are subjected to 200 tests for purity at a USDA-approved, FDA-registered laboratory. These tests guarantee that Edible Science drinkable powders contain only the highest-quality ingredients.
Many nutritional components are highly sensitive to heat. Fresh freeze-drying, cold-drying and Refractance Window drying fully protect the heat-sensitive bioactive constituents and phytonutrients of Edible Science's drinkable powders. Our manufacturer also utilize special cold-milling equipment. Studies have demonstrated that these unique technologies offer unprecedented protection of all valuable nutrients.
All of our Edible Science's drinkable powders are made with organic and wildcrafted ingredients. This not only assures maximum nutrition, but also protects our environment and bodies from harmful toxins. Our wildcrafted ingredients are sustainably harvested from their natural environments — the purest sources for some superfoods. All our farmers and wildcrafters take special care with the powders and their ethical wildcrafting practices ensure that natural habitats will continue to thrive.
The Amazon Rainforest is under tremendous environmental pressure. Twenty thousand square miles are logged yearly to graze cattle. This practice not only destroys the habitat of the most diverse group of species on the planet, it seriously compromises global health and the local Amazonian communities. Fortunately, wildcrafting camu camu berries is more profitable than clearing rainforest and grazing cattle. Thus, local communities now have the opportunity to create a sustainable economy based upon their ancient traditions of wildcrafting camu camu. Gathering berries for Camu Camu allows them to preserve their traditional practices, live satisfying lives and protect the rainforest.
