Details:
Acetyl-L-Carnitine 500mg
Acetyl-L-carnitine has the following properties lacking from L-carnitine.
Crosses the blood-brain barrier more readily
Taken up by cells and enter the mitochondria more readily
Can function as a donor of the acetyl group to choline to produce the neurotransmitter, acetylcholine
Is more effective than L-carnitine in neuroprotection.
Acetyl-L-Carnitine is a well known energy enhancer, brain booster. Combined with Alpha Lipoic Acid the two acts as a powerful anti-aging nutrient.
An analysis of double-blind, randomized, controlled clinical trials of acetyl-l-carnitine concluded that this neuroprotective agent can benefit patients with Alzheimers disease and patients with mild cognitive impairment.
Researchers at the Imperial College University of London analyzed a number of studies that investigated the effects of ALC on mild early-onset Alzheimers disease and mild cognitive impairment. The studies lasted 3, 6 or 12 months and the daily dose varied between studies from 1.5 to 3 grams/day.
After analyzing the studies, the researchers concluded that acetyl-l-carnitine was significantly more effective than a placebo in providing a number of benefits to the study subjects. Furthermore, the beneficial effects of ALC occurred by the initial 3 months assessment and increased over time.
